Brewtopia: Saudi Tourism Authority Showcases the Art of Qahwa in Bengaluru News August 18, 2024 | Press Release The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) brought a slice of Saudi Arabia to Bengaluru this August with “Brewtopia – A Qahwa Experience.” Hosted at Olive Beach, this exclusive gathering welcomed 30 prominent members from the city’s travel trade associations, giving them a taste of Saudi Arabia’s rich and historic coffee culture. Designed to captivate and engage the travel trade community, the event served as a platform for STA to enhance destination recall while promoting Saudi coffee as a prized souvenir. As part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to build strong relationships with Indian travel partners, Brewtopia immersed attendees in authentic experiences that bridged ancient traditions and modern connections. A captivating presentation delved into the origins of coffee, unveiling Arabia as the true birthplace of the celebrated Arabica bean. Attendees learned about the etymology of the word “coffee,” which traces back to “qahwa,” meaning “wine of the bean.” The session emphasized how Saudi’s thriving modern coffee culture remains deeply rooted in its historical origins. A live demonstration of traditional qahwa preparation on a stovetop showcased the shared culinary history between Saudi Arabia and India. Spices, once traded along historic routes, brought the two nations together, with Indian influences apparent in the brewing process. Under the expert guidance of Ganga and Pavan, founders of Coffee Mechanics and Kana, participants also explored a modern twist with French press techniques, resulting in a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. Served in miniature ceramic cups from a traditional brass Dallah, the qahwa was accompanied by succulent Medjool dates, symbolizing Saudi Arabia’s renowned hospitality or Hafawah. This sensory experience of authentic Saudi hospitality was a true highlight for the guests. Following the qahwa appreciation session, the event transitioned into a lively networking opportunity where travel trade partners engaged with STA representatives. Enthusiastic discussions touched on Saudi’s key destinations, including the bustling cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, as well as the enchanting experiences at AlUla and Al Baha. Partners were also informed about streamlined visa procedures, improved airline connectivity with Bengaluru, and the diverse range of itineraries available to Indian travellers. STA’s dedication to promoting Saudi Arabia as a vibrant and culturally rich destination continues to strengthen ties with travel trade partners across India, with Brewtopia marking another successful step in fostering lasting connections.
