Global travel representation firm Discover the World has announced a strategic partnership with European river cruise operator Nicko Cruises to introduce river cruising to Indian travellers. The collaboration will offer access to European river cruise packages, including routes on the Danube, Rhine, and Seine.

Discover the World will leverage its presence in the Indian travel market to promote Nicko Cruises’ offerings. The partnership targets Indian travellers looking for alternative cruise experiences beyond traditional ocean voyages.

Guido Laukamp, Chief Executive Director and Managing Director at Nicko Cruises, emphasised the company’s commitment to the market expansion. “Our cruises provide a structured and comfortable way to explore Europe’s key river destinations. We are keen to introduce this travel model to Indian customers.”

Business and Growth Potential
The river cruise sector is an emerging segment in India’s outbound travel industry, with growing interest in immersive and small-scale travel experiences. Nicko Cruises operates a fleet of 19 ships and offers itineraries across European rivers, including the Douro. In addition to river cruises, the company runs world cruises aboard the VASCO DA GAMA, covering global destinations over extended itineraries ranging from 112 to 175 days.

Discover the World, with its global network spanning 85 offices in over 60 countries, has a track record of expanding travel brands into new markets. The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for Indian travel agencies and tour operators looking to diversify their offerings.

The collaboration aligns with the increasing demand for niche travel experiences among Indian travellers, positioning Nicko Cruises as a new player in India’s outbound luxury travel sector.
