India to welcome the largest ship ever to sail to its shores in 2019

The Royal Caribbean International, a 49-year-old global cruise brand, has announced that its two cruise ships Spectrum of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas will soon dock at Indian shores and set sail to some idyllic locations across Asia from here.

Both ships are scheduled to come to India in 2019, according to Tirun Travel Marketing, the India representative of Royal Caribbean International.

The first of the Quantum Ultra class of ships, Spectrum of the Seas will be the largest ship ever to sail to and from India, claims Tirun. Currently, the largest ships to sail in Asia seas are Quantum and Ovation of the Seas.

The 1,139-foot long Spectrum can accommodate 5,622 guests.

Spectrum claims to have several “first-at-sea features”, such as Sky Pad, a virtual reality bungee trampoline experience, and a two-level 2,809 sq ft family suite that can accommodate up to 11 guests.

According to Tirun, Spectrum of the Seas is also the first ship by the Royal Caribbean International that has been custom built for the Asian market. For the first time, the cruise liner is introducing a private enclave for suite guests that will be located on the forward end of the ship.

There are multiple restaurant venues on the 18-deck ship, including a three-level Main Dining Room, offering cuisines from around the globe. Besides a variety of Asian a la carte options, there is Jamie’s Italian by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, Izumi Japanese cuisine, new specialty restaurant Sichuan Red offering authentic Sichuan cuisine, and Leaf and Bean, a traditional tea room and café parlour.

Star Moment, a karaoke venue, is another introduction.

For Indian guests, Spectrum is offering a a 5-night Dubai to Mumbai cruise from 4-9 May, 2019, and a 9-night Mumbai to Singapore cruise from 9-18 May, 2019. The two cruises will also cover destinations such as Muscat in Oman, Cochin in India, Penang in Malaysia.

Varun Chadha, Chief Operating Officer, Tirun Travel Marketing, said, “India is a growth market for cruising and we are thrilled that Spectrum and Explorer will offer Indian cruise enthusiasts easy access to experience the marvels of Royal Caribbean’s services, amenities and many on-board adventures. We are sure these itineraries will appeal to ours and further propel cruising in the minds of the traveller.”

On Explorer of The Seas, guests can opt for a 5-night cruise that starts from Singapore and reaches Cochin on 18 April, 2019 via Penang, Malaysia. Another segment offers a sail from Cochin to Dubai via Mumbai.
