Margaret River to Host The World’s 50 Best Vineyards Awards in Australian First

May 21, 2025 | Press Release

In a landmark moment for Australian wine tourism, Western Australia’s Margaret River region has been selected as the first-ever Australian host of The World’s 50 Best Vineyards awards. Set to take place on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, the prestigious event will celebrate the most exceptional vineyard experiences from across the globe—blending wine, gastronomy, and unforgettable visitor experiences.

The announcement marks a major coup for the state, with the event secured by the WA Government through Tourism Western Australia. It not only positions the Margaret River region on the global stage but also aligns with the return of Pair’d Margaret River, a highly anticipated four-day festival that will run from 20–23 November.

Tourism Minister Reece Whitby called the awards a “proud moment for Western Australia,” noting the state’s rising reputation as a global leader in premium tourism experiences. “The Margaret River region’s international reputation for outstanding wine, food and natural beauty makes it the ideal setting for this prestigious global event,” Whitby said. “Hosting these awards is a strong vote of confidence in our tourism industry and highlights the beauty of our regional destinations.”

The 50 Best Vineyards ceremony is part of the globally respected ‘50 Best’ series, which includes the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Bars. The November event will mark the first time the vineyard rankings are officially recognised under this umbrella brand, significantly raising the international profile of the region.

Following the awards, the South West will transform into a playground for food and wine lovers as Pair’d Margaret River returns for its second edition. Building on the success of its 2024 debut—which attracted over 1,000 out-of-region visitors and generated more than $2 million for the local economy—Pair’d 2025 promises to be bigger and bolder. The festival will showcase curated experiences across iconic wineries, with collaborations featuring the region’s top chefs, winemakers, and sommeliers.

Together, The World’s 50 Best Vineyards awards and Pair’d are expected to deliver a powerful tourism and economic boost to Western Australia, attracting international media, industry professionals, and global wine aficionados to the region.

For the Margaret River region—already internationally revered for its premium wines and breathtaking coastal landscapes—the back-to-back events are more than just a celebration of viticulture. They are a strategic platform to position the region, and WA more broadly, as a must-visit destination for discerning travellers seeking world-class food, wine, and nature-based experiences.
