India and South Africa are set to celebrate a significant milestone as they mark 30 years of robust diplomatic relations and shared democratic values. To commemorate this achievement, the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Ms. Patricia de Lille, will embark on an important visit to India in December 2024. During her week-long visit to New Delhi and Mumbai, the Minister will engage in key discussions aimed at enhancing tourism ties between the two nations, with a focus on areas such as streamlined visa processes, digital innovation, and improved air connectivity, including the IBSA code-share flight.

In addition to these discussions, Minister de Lille will delve into India’s advancements in AI-driven tourism solutions, meeting with technology experts and VFS representatives to explore how South Africa can incorporate such innovations into its tourism sector. This underscores South Africa’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge practices in travel and tourism.

The visit will also feature a major event themed “30 Years of Diplomatic Relations, 30 Years of Democracy, and South Africa’s Assumption of the G20 Presidency in 2025,” where Minister de Lille will address over 350 dignitaries. Her speech will focus on sustainable tourism and increasing accessibility for Indian travellers to South Africa. In a bid to further strengthen economic and tourism ties, she will host a dinner with CEOs from leading Indian corporations, including Air India, Indigo, and Tata Group, as well as key figures from the sports industry.
