Taiwan Sets Sights on India’s Outbound Boom: Visitor Arrivals Poised to Cross 38,000 in 2025 News March 5, 2025 | Press Release Taiwan is making a powerful comeback in India’s outbound travel market, with the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) leading the charge. With strategic partnerships, roadshows, and aggressive trade activations, Taiwan is eyeing a 20% increase in Indian visitor arrivals this year, surpassing the 38,000 mark. Speaking on the sidelines of SATTE 2025, Paul Shih, Director of TTA’s Singapore Office, expressed optimism about India’s growing interest in Taiwan. “We are very bullish about India’s outbound potential for Taiwan,” Shih remarked, underscoring the nation’s commitment to strengthening ties with Indian travel stakeholders. Strong Recovery & Market-Specific Strategies “Taiwan has come back strong after the pandemic with robust market-specific strategies and re-entered the Indian market starting January 2024. We have made our grand revival in the Indian market post-pandemic by hosting roadshows, FAMs, and digital activations, as well as participating at various shows and consumer activations to showcase the destination to the Indian travel fraternity and consumers,” Shih said on the occasion. “As a result, whereas Indian outbound grew by 10% in 2024, Taiwan welcomed 31,766 Indian visitors between January and October 2024, marking a 20% growth compared to the same period last year. This growth is a result of our continuous efforts in India, including trade partnerships, roadshows, FAM trips, PR, media, influencer marketing, and digital outreach,” he further added. Taiwan received 6.2 million international visitors during this period – a remarkable 24.55% increase over 2023. Incentives & Luxury Travel on the Rise Taiwan’s strategic push to attract Incentives travel from India has yielded significant results. Shih highlighted a major corporate movement of over 1,100 travellers from Asian Paints to Taiwan this month, a testament to the country’s growing appeal as a destination for corporate events and group travel. Building on this momentum, TTA plans to further develop the luxury travel segment in 2025, leveraging targeted campaigns and enhanced collaboration with Indian travel agencies. Enhancing Accessibility & Tailor-Made Experiences To make Taiwan a more accessible and attractive destination for Indian travellers, TTA is working closely with airlines and online travel agencies (OTAs) to curate customised travel packages. Taiwan’s appeal is further bolstered by its strong flight connectivity, Indian and Jain food availability, and top-tier infrastructure for hosting large-scale events. Looking ahead, TTA is set to expand its reach beyond metro cities, tapping into the high-growth potential of tier II markets and East India. The recently launched ‘Taiwan – Waves of Wonder’ campaign further reinforces the destination’s appeal across all four seasons, inviting Indian travellers to experience Taiwan’s rich cultural and natural diversity. With a combination of strategic trade activations and consumer-driven marketing, Taiwan is firmly positioning itself as a top choice for Indian outbound travellers in 2024 and beyond.
