Weekend getaway at couple-friendly hotels emerge as top choice this Valentine’s Day News The season of love is around the corner and after sending months apart from their significant others during the pandemic, young Indian couples are looking forward to spending quality ‘just us’ time with their partners this Valentine’s Day weekend. To celebrate love their way, young couples are actively searching and booking weekend getaways at couple-friendly hotels and properties that promise hassle-free booking, no-judgment check-in and provide an assurance of safety and hygiene. On the goibibo platform, more than 70% of the bookings for the weekend starting February 13, 2021, have been made for couple-friendly hotels; and this is only expected to increase as V-Day approaches. Addressing the need-gap for secure and safe accommodation space for consenting adults, couple-friendly hotels have seen a surge in pent-up demand amongst young couples. Bookings on the platform indicate a steady month-on-month increase of ~40% since the Unlock phase in June 2020 – with the majority of bookings being made by couples hailing from Tier I and Tier II cities including Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Cochin, Vadodara, Patna and Indore. While the room nights share is equally spilt between tier I and tier II cities (at 36.5%), tier III cities contribute nearly 27% to the overall couple-friendly room nights booked on the platform. Leisure destinations including Goa, Jaipur, Digha and Manali have emerged as some of the popular travel-to destinations. Commenting on the momentum picked by the couple-friendly segment around the upcoming Valentine’s Day, Sunil Suresh, Group Chief Marketing Officer, goibibo said “At goibibo, we are playing cupid by offering hassle-free access to safe, hygienic and cost-effective couple-friendly options this Valentine’s Day. Since the unlock phase, we are seeing strong growth momentum within the couple-friendly segment. This consistent growth reflects customer’s faith in safety assurance and a heightened sense of comfort at these properties during the pandemic.” A study of hotel booking behaviours and preferences on goibibo indicates that close to 70% of the bookings for couple-friendly hotels are finalized a day before the date of travel or on the day of check-in – a trend that continues to dominate other booking patterns amongst couples. In terms of the duration, more than 78% of the properties are booked for a day –with many opting for three-star or budget category hotels. Celebrating the month of love, goibibo has launched ‘LoveURWay’ campaign to recognize and celebrate the way young couples express love differently. The digital campaign aims to bring alive the language of romance as adopted by a generation born with a smartphone in their hand that is Gen Z. Share this:FacebookX
