September 18, 2024 | Press Release

The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, proudly announced the successful completion of the 17th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, an annual showcase of Zimbabwe’s tourism offerings. As a prelude to this prestigious event, a select group of Indian travel agents experienced an unforgettable educational tour of Zimbabwe from September 7th to 16th, 2024.

The itineraries designed for this tour highlighted Zimbabwe’s vast tourism landscape, offering visits to the Eastern Highlands, Lake Kariba, and Great Zimbabwe. Participants were immersed in the country’s natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and luxury accommodations, discovering Zimbabwe’s potential as a premier travel destination.

The tour’s pinnacle was the visit to the iconic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The agents enjoyed the falls’ mesmerising beauty and adventurous activities, such as a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, where they observed wildlife along the banks. The Boma Experience, a vibrant cultural event, introduced them to Zimbabwean traditions, local cuisine, and lively performances. For thrill-seekers, a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls and bungee jumping into the Batoka Gorge provided unforgettable memories.

Wildlife enthusiasts embarked on thrilling game drives in Zambezi National Park, spotting iconic African wildlife in their natural habitat. A trip to Mana Pools further emphasised Zimbabwe’s dedication to authentic wildlife encounters, featuring walking safaris in the heart of one of Africa’s most stunning national parks.

Luxury accommodations were an integral part of the experience, with the agents staying at top-tier properties like Bayete Lodge, The Victoria Falls Hotel, Ilala Hotel, Zambezi Sands Luxury Camp, and Elephant Camp, among others, showcasing Zimbabwe’s world-class hospitality.

Commenting on the event, H.E. Ambassador Stella Nkomo, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to India, shared, “We are thrilled to have hosted Indian travel professionals. With Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, alongside Namibia and South Africa, set to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup, we look forward to welcoming Indian travellers to explore Zimbabwe’s diverse wonders beyond the cricket pitch.”

Pranav Kapadia, Founder & Director of Global Destinations, also expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Attending Sanganai/Hlanganani was an exceptional opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s beauty and strengthen ties between our nations’ travel industries. This collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority is a step forward in promoting Zimbabwe as a top travel destination for Indian tourists.”

With its visa-on-arrival policy and diverse offerings, Zimbabwe aims to become a top choice for Indian travellers. The country’s focus on elevating India to one of its top five source markets within the next three years reflects its strategic commitment to fostering stronger tourism ties with India.
