5 things to know when cruising with kids on Costa Serena

As numerous Indians contemplate booking a cruise vacation this season, an 8-year-old embarks on a journey aboard Costa Serena. The ship is currently navigating Indian waters until January 11, 2024 with multiple domestic itineraries starting from Mumbai. Here are the top five activities children should engage in while on board Costa Serena.

1. Captain or Princess Dress-Up: Allow your child to immerse themselves in the role of a Captain or Princess for a few hours with a photo package starting from USD 50. To secure the dress-up slot, be sure to book with Squok Club at least a day in advance, as they need to take measurements for the child’s attire.

2. Indulge in Authentic Italian Gelato: Head to Gelateria Amarillo on Deck 5 to savour authentic Italian gelato. While the menu boasts a variety of gelatos, waffles, and milkshakes, make sure to try the genuine Italian gelato. Our favourite was the ‘Blueberry Gelato,’ priced at USD 4 per cup.

3. Kids-Friendly Food Menu: Speciality restaurants like Casanova and Pummid’Oro Pizzeria offer a children-friendly menu, featuring smaller food portions, milder spices, and an ideal amount of cheese and non-alcoholic drinks. There is also a set menu at a specific price which includes a starter, main course and a dessert of your choice. Even the inclusive buffet restaurants provide a wide range of vegetarian and kid-friendly options. Don’t miss the delightful dessert spread at Ceres Restaurant on Deck 3.

4. Squok Club: Adapted from its parent company, Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises features three different areas for toddlers, kids, and teens. While photography and videography are not allowed in the Club area and during ship activities with kids, it stands out as the best kids club at sea, open from 09:00 until midnight, and complimentary for all kids.

5. Water Activities: Costa Serena offers three pools, several jacuzzis, and a kid-friendly slide. Free life jackets are available for kids to enjoy pool time. The swimming pool water is essentially seawater, so expect it to be somewhat salty. Before embarking on your water adventure, ensure to check the operating timings for the water slide.
