A Spectacular Comeback: StarCruises and Dream Cruises Relaunch with Star Voyager’s Maiden Voyage from Singapore

March 26, 2025 | Press Release

Singapore has once again cemented its status as a leading cruise hub with the grand relaunch of StarCruises and Dream Cruises. The momentous occasion unfolded aboard the newly revitalised Star Voyager, marking a bold new chapter for both cruise brands under the stewardship of industry veterans.

The launch, celebrated in an elaborate ceremony at the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC), coincided with Star Voyager’s inaugural sailing, following an impressive US$50 million refit. Now positioned as the newest home-ported ship in Singapore, Star Voyager is set to take guests on unforgettable journeys across Southeast Asia, with destinations including Jakarta, Melaka, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City.

A Legacy Reborn
For those familiar with the golden age of Star Cruises, the revival of the brand under the StarCruises banner is nothing short of nostalgic. The first home-porting of a StarCruises vessel at SCC dates back to 1993, and three decades later, its return is nothing less than a homecoming. Complementing the resurgence of StarCruises is the continuation of Dream Cruises, which remains synonymous with ultra-luxury cruising in the region.

StarCruises and Dream Cruises executives, including CEO and Executive Director Colin Au and President Michael Goh, led the relaunch alongside key dignitaries. Among them were Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive – Experience Development Group, Singapore Tourism Board, and Jacqueline Tan, CEO of Singapore Cruise Centre. Their presence underscored the industry’s strong confidence in Singapore’s positioning as a premier cruise hub.

“We are thrilled and honoured to return to our roots with the launch of the revitalised StarCruises and Dream Cruises brands, offering an enhanced cruising experience. To celebrate this milestone, we are also excited to introduce the Star Voyager, as she embarks on her maiden voyage from Singapore, exploring the wonders of Southeast Asia,” said Goh.

The enthusiasm was echoed by Jean Ng, who stated, “Star Voyager’s seasonal home-porting in Singapore, offering several new itineraries across Southeast Asia, marks an exciting milestone for our cruise industry. Her addition bolsters our variety of cruise offerings in Singapore, underscoring the strong confidence in Singapore’s flourishing cruise industry. As one of Asia’s leading cruise hubs, we remain committed to strengthening our cruise offerings for locals and international visitors to enjoy.”

An Experience Tailored for Every Traveller
With this relaunch, StarCruises and Dream Cruises have clearly defined their distinct cruise experiences. StarCruises reintroduces affordable, lifestyle-driven cruising with its mid-sized ships, such as Star Voyager and Star Navigator, catering to approximately 2,000 guests. On the other hand, Dream Cruises is set to redefine luxury at sea, offering an opulent experience aboard its flagship, Genting Dream, which remains home-ported in Singapore year-round.

Singapore Cruise Centre CEO Jacqueline Tan also celebrated the occasion, remarking, “Singapore Cruise Centre is extremely pleased to welcome back StarCruises to homeport at our Terminal again. This feels like something of a homecoming since their first ship, Langkapuri Star Aquarius, was home-ported with us 32 years ago, back in 1993. Our Harbour-front Cruise Terminal provides seamless access to the precinct’s rich amenities, including over a million square feet of retail and dining options. These attributes reinforce our position as a preferred port for smaller and medium-sized vessels.”

Sailing into New Horizons
From now until July 2025, Star Voyager will embark on an exciting series of itineraries showcasing Southeast Asia’s vibrant coastal destinations. Among the highlights:

5-Night Melaka-Jakarta Cruise (26 March – 15 April 2025)
5-Night Bangkok-Ko Samui Cruise (20 April – 10 May 2025)
5-Night Melaka-Ho Chi Minh Cruise (6 – 21 July 2025)
4-Night Ko Samui-Pulau Redang Cruise (15 – 23 May 2025)
4-Night Jakarta Cruise (10 – 30 June 2025)
3-Night Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang)-Medan Cruise (27 May – 5 June 2025)
2-Night Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang)-Medan Cruise (8 June 2025)

These voyages not only offer Singapore-based travellers unparalleled access to neighbouring gems but also allow passengers from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam to board from their national homeports, fostering seamless regional tourism.

A New Wave for Southeast Asian Cruising
With the relaunch of StarCruises and Dream Cruises, and the introduction of Star Voyager, the cruise industry in Southeast Asia is poised for an exhilarating resurgence. As Singapore strengthens its position as a global cruise hub, travellers can look forward to more immersive, flexible, and diverse itineraries than ever before.

For those seeking adventure, relaxation, or luxury on the high seas, the future of cruising just got a lot more exciting.
