Ferguson, II, president and CEO of Destination DC, emphasised the economic and cultural impact of the celebration. “Our job is to grow visitation to Washington, D.C., to benefit residents and local businesses. The collective strength of our partners will draw visitors all year. No other city offers so many cultural experiences, many of them free,” he said. The Economic Impact D.C. has already seen record-breaking tourism numbers, with 25.95 million visitors in 2023 generating over $10.2 billion in visitor spending. The 2026 celebrations are expected to further boost the local economy, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and businesses. While precise economic projections are still uncertain, the influx of visitors promises to be significant. A Rich Array of Events The celebration will include a broad spectrum of events across the city’s most iconic landmarks, museums, and public spaces.
