Australia Marketplace India 2025 Highlights Growing Travel Momentum and High-Yield Opportunities from Indian Market News August 6, 2025 | Press Release Flagship B2B event in Jaipur draws strong participation from Indian agents and Australian sellers as arrivals and spending continue to surge. With the Indian travel market continuing to demonstrate strong interest in premium international holidays, Tourism Australia’s 19th edition of Australia Marketplace India (AMI) kicked off this week in Jaipur, reinforcing the country’s strategic focus on India as one of its top inbound markets. Held from August 3–6, the flagship B2B event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 leading Indian travel agents and 82 Australian tourism suppliers. The growing seller representation—from accommodation providers and tour operators to state and regional tourism boards—mirrors India’s rise as a high-value source market for Australia. “With India being one of the leading markets for Australia, Marketplace plays a pivotal role in connecting leading Australian tourism experts with key players in the Indian travel trade,” said Jennifer Doig, Regional General Manager – South & Southeast Asia, Tourism Australia. She said, “This steady growth of travellers year on year makes it important we meet the trade community and offer a platform to showcase Australia’s premium offerings. This initiative is central to increasing tourism spending and future visitor numbers from one of our most promising inbound markets.” Reflecting India’s climbing rank from seventh to fifth-largest source market for Australia, Tourism Australia shared updated insights revealing that the country welcomed 453,000 Indian visitors in the year ending May 2025—a 10% increase year-on-year. Visitor spending also surged, with AUD 2.7 billion recorded in the year ending March 2025, marking a 14% growth from 2024. “Today’s Indian traveller seeks more than just sightseeing. They want depth, discovery, and cultural connection, all of which Australia offers in abundance,” said Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India & Gulf, Tourism Australia. He said, “Our strategic partnerships, marketing efforts, and consistent trade engagement through platforms like AMI are driving this momentum. By continuing to strengthen Australia’s appeal among Indian travellers, we aim to build on this success and realise the full potential of the Indian market in the coming year and beyond.” The Jaipur edition of AMI also showcased how innovative marketing campaigns are shaping demand. Standout examples include the cricket-themed “Howzat for a Holiday?” featuring Australian captain Pat Cummins, and a social content series with cricketer David Warner spotlighting his favourite Australian holiday spots—both campaigns launched during the high-visibility Border-Gavaskar series. The momentum is further amplified by direct air connectivity, fully digital visa processing, and the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in Australia, now nearing one million residents, alongside over 100,000 Indian students—all contributing to increased repeat travel and family-led visitation. Tourism Australia continues to invest in equipping the Indian trade with tools and experiences to promote the destination. Programs like the Aussie Specialist Program, Australia 365 On Demand, and global platforms such as ATE (Australian Tourism Exchange) and G’day Australia ensure Indian agents are well-trained and well-informed. Currently, over 3,000 qualified Aussie Specialists operate across India, with 36 Premium Aussie Specialists recognised for their expertise in promoting immersive, luxury-focused itineraries. The 2025 edition of Australia Marketplace India in Jaipur stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations—and a clear sign that Australia is firmly on the radar of India’s upwardly mobile, experience-driven travellers.
