Vietjet Reports Strong H1 Growth, Expands India Routes and Global Fleet Orders News September 1, 2025 | Press Release Vietjet has reported a strong first half of 2025, underlining both its aggressive global expansion and Vietnam’s rising profile as a key aviation hub in Asia. The airline posted air transport revenue of VND35.6 trillion (approx. US$1.35 billion) and a pre-tax profit of VND1.6 trillion (US$60.7 million), a 37% year-on-year increase. Consolidated revenue reached VND35.8 trillion (US$1.36 billion) with pre-tax profit surpassing VND1.65 trillion (US$62.6 million), reflecting a striking 65% YoY growth. Vietjet operated 79,000 flights during the period, carrying 14.4 million passengers, while paying over VND4.5 trillion (US$171.8 million) in taxes and fees. Strengthening India–Vietnam Links India continues to be a growth driver. Earlier this year, Vietjet launched new direct routes from Bengaluru and Hyderabad to Ho Chi Minh City, adding to its existing network from Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi and Ahmedabad to Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. The expansion is fueling demand for both leisure and business travel, positioning Vietnam as an increasingly popular destination for Indian travellers. Fleet Investments and Global Orders Vietjet has also made some of the industry’s most significant aircraft commitments in 2025. In the first half, it placed an order for 20 additional A330neo aircraft with Airbus, bringing its total A330neo orders to 40—the largest in the world. At the Paris Air Show, it signed a landmark deal for 100 A321neo aircraft plus 50 purchase options, securing its spot among the world’s top 10 airlines in terms of aircraft orders. Complementing these moves, Vietjet and Rolls-Royce have signed an agreement for 40 Trent 7000 engines to power its A330neo fleet, raising the total to 80 engines ordered. Infrastructure and Service Enhancements Beyond fleet expansion, the airline broke ground on its Aircraft Maintenance Technical Center at Vietnam’s upcoming Long Thanh International Airport. The project, featuring Hangars 3 and 4, will be able to service 10 aircraft simultaneously, meeting international standards. Meanwhile, Vietjet has introduced self-service ground operations at key airports to streamline passenger experience and optimise efficiency. Recognition and Outlook Vietjet’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. It was named the World’s Best Ultra Low Cost Carrier by AirlineRatings and ranked by Forbes Vietnam among the country’s top five revenue-generating enterprises for 2024 and in the top 50 listed companies for 2025. With a modern fleet on order, strong financial performance, and major infrastructure projects underway, Vietjet is positioning itself for continued momentum into the second half of 2025. Its dual focus—strengthening India–Vietnam connectivity and expanding its global footprint—underscores the airline’s ambition to be a central player in shaping Vietnam’s role as an aviation hub in Asia and beyond.
