GemBox: Malaysia’s newest attraction targets the Indian travel market News The biggest and largest cultural night market in Malaysia – Gembox is now open for business and is targeting the Indian MICE and leisure travel segments. Officially opened in September 2022, Gembox (claiming to be Malaysia’s largest cashless night market) is aiming to become one of the most popular tourist destinations for Indian travellers coming to Malaysia. Strategically located it is easily accessible via major highways such as the North-South Expressway (PLUS), Lekas Highway, and Elite Highway. Situated about 15km away from KLIA and KLIA2, Gembox is convenient for travellers upon landing and before departure. Gembox is also in the process of soon launching free shuttle services to/from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to attract transit passengers with more than a 6-hour haul in Kuala Lumpur. It is also working closely with Tourism Malaysia and inbound DMCs of Malaysia to further enhance its brand placement and increase footfalls in the coming months. The facility houses 850 stalls selling products and foodstuffs from all 13 states of Malaysia including handicrafts and souvenirs which will also boost entrepreneurship among locals. “It will be home to the most iconic vendors around Malaysia, bringing a variety of local products, shopping and fun events and a centre to celebrate food, drink and culture. Apart from the stalls which would be set up at the ‘Malaysia Food Avenue’ and ‘Pavillion’, there will be other attractions such as live performances of arts, culture and music. There will also be an open-air family theatre, bistro, a snow house, circus performances and fireworks shows which would make it a must-visit tourist attraction,” said Kevin Tan, General Manager, GemBox Holdings. Spread across 25 acres of land, Gembox is equivalent to the size of 14 football fields and is comparable to Thailand’s Chatuchak Market, Taiwan’s Shilin Market, and Korea’s Myeongdong Market. Positioned as a food paradise, visitors to Gembox can expect to taste the best delicacies from each state of Malaysia. The unique cuisines include Daging Salai Lemak Cili Api and Mee Udang Pakar Paroi from Negeri Sembilan, Chicken Riceball from Malacca, Bah Kut Teh from Klang, and Banana Leaf Rice from Kuala Lumpur. The Rainbow Night Market is another feature of Gembox that offers tasty street food and drinks in order for travellers to experience the bustle and vibrancy of Malaysian night markets. Besides featuring local delights, Gembox also offers speciality products, handicrafts, art performances as well as more than 100 live performances and events yearly under one roof. Taking the lead in kicking off the happening, Gembox brings the Pacific Circus to entertain visitors with stunning stuns and performances since the end of August 2022. Share this:FacebookX
