Maitreyee & Mahendra Vakaria, Pathfinder Holidays #RiseLikeAPhoenix Special Feature “I still remember how excited we felt with every booking that we received and the starting of a fresh page in the booking register was loudly cheered with Hi-Fives,” recollects Mahendra Vakaria, MD, Pathfinders Holidays Pvt Ltd Nothing worth having comes easy. This is the story of Vakarias – Mahendra & Maitreyee who started Pathfinder Holidays back in 1997 with all the savings they had. They left their well-earning jobs from tourism industry to start their entrepreneurial journey. It was definitely not an easy one. With a 5 year old kid and all savings invested in the company, both Mahendra & Maitreyee worked day in and day out to bring up the company to where it is today. During initial days, it was work from home for the company as the office building was under construction. Vakaria said, “An old dining table was converted as Office and started with 1 booking register, 1 computer with dial up internet, 1 fax machine (the most important means of communication then) 1 Office Assistant who incidentally is still with us to present date, and 1 Accountant; we started Pathfinders.” We know waters are choppy right now, but the storm won’t stay forever.
