Malaysia Radio Station Sets New Malaysia Book of Records with Resorts World Cruises

Resorts World Cruises, Asia’s luxury and dynamic lifestyle cruise brand together with Malaysia’s SURIA FM radio station celebrated a new Malaysia Book of Records achievement on the Genting Dream as the ‘First Radio Station to Broadcast Onboard A Cruise Ship’. The setting of the new record was achieved during the Genting Dream 3 Night roundtrip cruise (9 – 12 January 2023) that departed from Port Klang in Malaysia, which was also held in conjunction with SURIA FM’s 15th Anniversary – Malaysia’s Top 3 ranked radio station with over 3.5 million listeners.

For the Malaysia Book of Records attempt, Resorts World Cruises hosted a total of 71 invited guests on the 18-storey Genting Dream cruise ship, comprising of SURIA FM’s popular local DJs, lucky radio contest winners, crew and technical sound engineering, as well as Malaysian celebrities, influencers, media and also the Malaysia Book of Records official representatives to witness and certify this first-of-a-kind achievement in Malaysia.

As part of this milestone celebration, the Malaysia Book of Records representatives presented the certificates to the SURIA FM and Resorts World Cruises representatives during a special ceremony that was held exclusively at Palm Court on the Genting Dream.

“It truly has been a wonderful partnership with SURIA FM to celebrate their 15th Anniversary together since mid-November 2022. On behalf of Resorts World Cruises and the crew of the Genting Dream, we are absolutely delighted to be part of this Malaysia Book of Records achievement and to end our collaboration at the beginning of the year on such a high note with SURIA FM as ‘First Radio Station to Broadcast onboard a Cruise Ship’. Our collaboration is timely as our ship continues to homeport in Port Klang until early 2024 to offer a series of cruises to Penang, Singapore and Phuket with certified Halal food and beverage offerings, enabling us to further grow and promote cruise vacations as an option among Malaysians, especially for the Malay market segment”, said Michael Goh, President of Resorts World Cruises.

“SURIA FM is one of the top 3 radio stations in Malaysia. It is wholly owned by the Star Media Group. On behalf of SURIA FM we are very pleased and would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Resorts World Cruises for the greatest partnership in celebrating SURIA FM’s 15th anniversary.

In conjunction with this milestone, we are also celebrating a new Malaysia Book of Records achievement on the Genting Dream as the ‘First Radio Station to Broadcast Onboard from A Cruise Ship’. We believe that this success is undoubtedly the outcome of strong collaborative efforts from all parties, aided by an effective formula, constant focus, and the greatest possible level of commitment. SURIA FM is delighted with this recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records, and we will continuously strive and remain committed to delivering quality products and content to cater to the needs of our listeners,” said Roslinda Abd Majid (DJ Lin), General Manager, SURIA FM.

In conjunction with this special cruise with SURIA FM on the Genting Dream, the invited attendees also had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of onboard offerings on ‘A Resort Cruising at Sea’. The Genting Dream offers a wide-spread of international and Asian cuisine that are inclusive and certified Halal at a section of The Lido, as the ship is the World’s First OIC/SMIIC* Standard Halal-Friendly Cruise Ship; also provides access to onboard prayer rooms for the convenience of Muslim guests. Other exciting inclusive offerings as part of the cruise package feature the amazing international stage performances and movie screenings at the impressive 1,000-seat capacity Zodiac theatre, a water park at sea with a pool and 6 waterslides, rope courses and ziplines, a rock-climbing wall with more recreational activities and so much more.
