With a Masters in Microbiology, Nagsri started with Thomas Cook back in 1996 as a Middle Management Trainee. It was here that she found her passion for FIT travel segment. However, it was a very niche segment during those days and people were not really serious about FIT business. During 1998-99, Nagsri got the opportunity to grow in her career by moving to Sales. However, she stood her ground and managed to convince the management that FIT can do better. It was a turning point in her career as she learned to stand strong with her passion. Even after moving to Mercury Travels in 2007, Nagsri continued focusing on FIT and constantly worked on her skills and knowledge for this segment. “Over the years, I’ve experienced favouritism in the industry, not being promoted for years and years as FIT was not a big segment, no growth in designation and even step motherly treatment during group meetings. But I suppose this was all because FIT was a niche travel segment. Anyways, I took this in a positive way and managed to build strategies, ideas and concepts to grow FIT business.” She also credits her productivity to work-from-home and flexi working hours offered by Mercury Travels. Today, Nagsri is one of the most popular FIT specialists in India, especially for experiential travel. “Develop a passion for learning. I think knowledge is the most important asset you can own. You can do anything as long as you have the passion, the drive, the focus and right knowledge,” suggests Nagsri.
