Reena Chopra, Magical Holidays #RiseLikeAPhoenix Special Feature “Working moms are the real heroes,” says Reena Chopra, Director, MAGICAL HOLIDAYS (P) LTD Reena worked with Thomas Cook India in late 90s but quit to attend to her ailing mother-in-law. Alongside, she also started a travel agency (called VR Travels during initial years) from the backyard of her parent’s house in an elite Delhi area. She became a mother in 1999 and that changed everything. From doing house chores, attending to ailing in-law to taking care of an infant and atthe same time managing business, it was a rough phase. “And work life balance is a myth for working moms. You want to give 100 percent at your home, to your child and your work, but let me tell you – that really takes toll on your mental health,” adds Reena. “I think if you love what you do, and the choice you have made in your life, somehow that drives you to enjoy it all. Even the chaos, even the exhaustion of it, and even when it seems out of balance. Luckily, I had a very supportive family and slowly I became accustomed to the new normal in my life,” concludes Reena. Today, Reena is a proud mother of two dotting daughters and owns Magical Holidays which specialises in luxury travel. To all the working moms in our travel industry, we want to say this – You will go through a big chunk of time thinking, ‘This is impossible, this is impossible.
