Singapore Tourism Board presents a Singapore Experience Zone at Gin Explorer’s Club’s 4th edition of India’s largest Gin Festival

The Singapore Tourism Board and Gin Explorer’s Club (an IP curated by Food Talk India) collaborated for the first time to celebrate Singapore’s vibrant cocktail and bar scene at India’s largest Gin festival. The event which took place at The HUB, DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj saw a special Singapore Experience Zone presented by the Singapore Tourism Board to give patrons to the festival a taste of Singapore’s signature Gin cocktails. Singapore’s burgeoning cocktail and bar scene, and emerging homegrown Gin distilleries make it a popular destination for Gin lovers. The country also has a history of crafting some of the world’s famous Gin cocktails including the iconic Singapore Sling.

The Singapore Experience Zone hosted a virtual tour of the Singapore Gin Distillery which was conducted by Ashwin Sekaran, General Manager of Singapore Gin Distillery who took the audience through an immersive tour of Gin making and pairing techniques. This was followed by an engaging masterclass session by the talented Singaporean mixologist Peter Chua, Co-owner of Junior – The Pocket Bar, Singapore and two of India’s celebrated mixologists Evgeniia and Vedant Mehra from Greater Than.  The Gin experts curated a signature Peter Chua cocktail – “Garden City Daisy” and shared their knowledge of the varieties of Gin that the guests can expect while visiting Singapore. The cocktails were paired with mouth-watering delights from Mai Bao, a Delhi based restaurant specialising in Singapore dishes.  On hand were also delicious party snacks from Singapore’s Tong Garden.

Speaking on the occasion, GB Srithar, Regional Director – India, Middle East & South Asia, said, “Singapore Tourism Board has been continuously working to bring Singapore’s unique experiences, food and culture scenario closer to the Indian audience. Singapore has twelve of Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2021 with six of them on the World’s 50 best Bars 2021 list.  This speaks volumes of the vibrant cocktails and bars culture in Singapore.  We hope the patrons of the Gin Festival can get a slice of this at the Singapore Experience Zone as we celebrate our common passion for good food and finest spirits, and await the results of which bars make it to Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 list which will be revealed later on 28th of April 2022.  As travel to Singapore from India has been made easier for vaccinated travellers with effect from 1 April 2022, we warmly welcome you back to Singapore and hope you will not forget bar hopping as one of the must-do in your next visit to Singapore.”

Sharing his experience, Peter Chua, Co-owner, Junior – The Pocket Bar, Singapore said “Singapore’s Gin culture is taking a centre stage with many Gin lovers from across the world visiting the country to experience Gin concoctions at some of the best bars in the world. Singapore being the melting pot of cultures also provides an avenue to use a variety of ingredients and cater to mixed tastes. What I like most about Gin cocktails are the infinite ingredients that can be mixed into this white spirit that accentuates its flavour. It was a delight to be part of India’s largest Gin festival and curate my signature Gin cocktail – ‘Garden City Daisy’ for the audience here.”

Speaking at the event, Anjali Batra, Co-founder, Gin Explorers club, said, “Home to some of my favourite bars across the globe, Singapore has always been one of my favourite places to visit as a Gin Lover!  It has such an amazing bar and cocktail culture to offer. We are excited to collaborate with Singapore Tourism Board and bring a vibrant and fresh new edition to Gin Explorers Club with cocktails inspired from iconic flavours of Singapore.”
