SriLankan Airlines Anticipating Robust Growth from the Thriving Indian Market in 2024 Special Feature India’s rich cultural tapestry and diverse landscapes are captivating, yet its potential as a premier tourist destination remains untapped. SriLankan Airlines takes centre stage in propelling India’s tourism boom, connecting key cities like Chennai, Kochi, and Bangalore. With the government’s strategic efforts, exemplified by the ‘Incredible India Campaign,’ India aims to rival regional tourism giants. V Ravindran, Regional Manager – India, Bangladesh and Nepal, SriLankan Airlines foresee India becoming a sought-after destination, competing with Thailand and the Maldives. SriLankan Airlines, a key player, anticipates substantial growth, envisioning tourism as a potent pillar in India’s economy. He said, “India’s potential as a tourist destination is not yet fully realised and the government of India and tourism authorities are steadily working toward establishing India as one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in South Asia through powerful campaigns such as the iconic ‘Incredible India Campaign’. I’m optimistic that India is on its way to becoming one of the most significant destinations in the region, competing with countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Maldives.” He further added, “SriLankan Airlines will continue to fly to and from Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. If India harnesses its potential in the tourism sector, the day is not far away when tourism will become one of the strongest pillars of the Indian economy.” Adding to the momentum, SriLankan Airlines will ease travel on India-Sri Lanka routes in 2024, further cementing its role as a facilitator in India’s tourism surge.
