VietJet opens new direct route to Australia News VietJet has announced the commencement of direct flights between Australia’s largest cities, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The new routes are aimed at facilitating the movement of Indian and Australian travellers, boosting tourism and trade between the two continents, with Vietnam acting as a hub for Southeast Asia. Governor-General David Hurley expressed his happiness about the new airline route linking Australia and Vietnam and congratulated VietJet on its inaugural flight to Melbourne on 8th April. VietJet’s Chief Operations Officer, Michael Hickey, expressed gratitude towards the passengers, governments, cities, airports, and Australian partners who supported VietJet in opening new routes to meet customer demand for travel, tourism, business, and visiting relatives. VietJet will operate the new A330 aircraft on these routes. Flights from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City will be scheduled for Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. In addition, VietJet started operating flights between Sydney and Ho Chi Minh City on April 13, with three return flights per week. The flight duration is approximately 9 hours between destinations. For Indians, the new direct link will provide them with access to VietJet’s expanding network of destinations. VietJet has already established strategic expansions within India, including Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.
