So make the best of it’, believes Yatiraj Kabra, Head – Sales & Marketing, Guideline Travels LLP Coming from a small town (in Madhya Pradesh), life moved to fast lane when Yatiraj shifted to Mumbai in 2005 for higher studies. “My uncle started a new travel agency in the late 1990s and since they were short of staff, I was happy to assist. My salary? One ‘Thumbs-up’ (soft-drink) for each time I stood in the railway queue for tickets or went to the visa office. Due to that experience, I was hired as an intern in 2005 at the his agency,” explains Yatiraj. However, life taught him the biggest lesson when he and his mate met with an accident in 2008. “He passed away in my arms. Until that very moment, as a 19 year old, I always believed that I had more time to make something out of my life. But I realised life is short, and I will work and won’t stop till I’m proud. But getting the whole accident out of my mind was a struggle,” said Yatiraj. During those tough times, his mentor, his uncle said to him, “Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with voice trembling, but start. Start and don’t stop. Start from where you are and with what you have. Just…start.” And since then, Yatiraj didn’t stop to work towards his life goals and success. From a tour guide to a visa guy to now, Head of Cruises and also Manager for Sales & Marketing, it was an uphill battle for Yatiraj to earn his position at Guideline Travels. You have this one life.
