In a move set to redefine travel convenience across continents, SriLankan Airlines and Air Seychelles have joined forces in a groundbreaking codeshare partnership. The collaboration, announced recently, promises to open up a plethora of new destinations across Asia, Africa, and Australia, offering passengers seamless journeys between Colombo and Mahé.

Under this strategic alliance, SriLankan Airlines, the esteemed national carrier of Sri Lanka, and Air Seychelles, the flagship airline of the Republic of Seychelles, will intertwine their flight networks. This integration allows travellers to enjoy enhanced connectivity, with over 20 sought-after destinations now within easy reach.

One of the key highlights of this partnership is the expanded access it affords passengers of both airlines. For SriLankan Airlines, the venture marks a significant stride in bolstering its presence in Africa. Passengers can now embark on their journeys to Mahé twice a week, unlocking a myriad of travel possibilities within the African continent.

Air Seychelles, on the other hand, extends its reach to over 20 destinations, including coveted spots like Sydney and Melbourne in Australia. This move caters to the growing demand for seamless travel experiences and positions Air Seychelles as a key player in the region.

Crucially, the codeshare agreement simplifies the travel process for passengers. By allowing both airlines to place their codes on each other’s flights, travellers can seamlessly transition between flights with a single booking. Moreover, the convenience extends to baggage handling, with luggage checked in all the way to the final destination.

Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to boost our codeshare network and presence in the African region through this new partnership. Charles Johnson, Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer, echoed Nuttall’s sentiments, emphasising the success of their flights to Colombo and the added convenience this codeshare brings to passengers. “The next step to solidifying our relationship is with this code-share, allowing even more passengers the convenience of a single ticket to more points served by our partner in Asia and Australia,” he remarked.

With flights under the codeshare agreement now open for booking, travellers can anticipate seamless and hassle-free journeys commencing in May 2024.
